PTFE
was the first fluorocarbon and is the most chemically resistant
plastic known; only a few chemicals react with it. Mechanical properties
are low compared to other egineering plastics, but its properties
remain at a useful level over a great termperature range. PTFE properties
posses excellent thermal and electrical insulation and low coefficient
of friction.
PTFE
is not melt processible; instead it is processed by paste and ram
extru-sion or compression molding. Available in sheet, rod and
tube and FDA com-pliant grades available.
