Common
trade names are: Celtec - Vintec
Polyvinyl
Chloride has excellent strength-to-weight ratio and superior flame
resistance.
Also charaterized by its excellent chemical resistance and dielectric
properties, good tensile, flexural and mechanical strength, low
moisture absorption, exceptional dimen-sional stability and good
flammability.
The
two main types of PVC are rigid and flexible with subcategories
in between for specific applications.
Rigid
PVC is the most common type possesing high strength to weight ratio,
pressure bearing capability, corrosion and chemical resistance and
low friction loss characteristics.
Flexible
(plasticized) PVC is vinyl which has been heavily plasticized. Used
in application which require flexiblity and resistance to tear,
puncture and abrasion.
Availble
in several formulations of sheet, rod and tube.
